A great jumper is a repeatable one — same balance, same release, same follow-through every rep. That comes from form-first work, not chucking threes. Below are 79 free shooting drills with video, grouped by goal and level: groove your form up close, add catch-and-shoot and footwork, extend your range, then finish with game-speed workouts. New to it? Start with form shooting and add one block a week.

Start here — form shooting (fundamentals)

Groove the motion up close before you add distance: balance, a clean set point, and a soft, consistent follow-through.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Shooting flat — get arc by finishing up and over, not pushing the ball at the rim.
  • Thumbing the ball — the guide hand only steadies it; power and release come from the shooting hand.
  • Drifting off balance — land where you took off; a balanced base is the whole shot.
  • Skipping form work — range without a repeatable release just misses from farther away.
