You can't improve what you don't measure. These are the combine-style athletic tests and shooting benchmarks that tell you exactly where you stand — and let you prove you're getting better. Below are 11 free testing drills with video, grouped by what they measure: time your speed and agility, measure your vertical, and benchmark your shooting. Speed & agility tests

Time these like a combine — they measure the change-of-direction quickness and straight-line speed that show up in games.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Testing once and never again — retest every 3–4 weeks; the trend is the point, not a single number.
  • Changing the setup between tests — same spots, same rules, same rest, or the numbers aren't comparable.
  • Only testing what you're already good at — test your weaknesses too; that's where the progress hides.
  • Skipping the warm-up before max tests — cold legs lowball your vertical and sprint; warm up first.
