Basketball 3-Point Shooting Workout — three-point shooting drills

The workout: Five blocks for better threes: NBA-range form, negative-step rhythm, relocation, star shooting, pick-and-roll reads, drift actions, and deep-range confidence. Track makes and keep the same release under fatigue.

Good 3-point shooting is not just standing still behind the line. This session trains the shots modern guards and wings actually get: negative-step rhythm, relocation threes, pick-and-roll reads, drift catches, and deep range. Start with form and spacing, then add movement and decision pressure while keeping one repeatable release.

1

Range base - build the line

6 min · Start with clean mechanics before chasing speed or distance.
  1. NBA 3-pointers2 x 5 makes from 5 spotsUse your legs for range and keep the release compact; do not push from the chest.
  2. 3pt. shooting2 x 8 makesSet the feet early, keep your eyes on the rim, and hold the finish every time.
2

Footwork rhythm - get ready before the catch

7 min · The feet create the release before the ball arrives.
  1. Negative step spot - 25 Made Shots2 x 8 makesUse the negative step to load your hips, then step in with rhythm and balance.
  2. Relocate shooting2 x 8 makesMove after the pass, arrive ready, and shoot before the defense can recover.
  3. STAR drill2 x 8 makesSprint the pattern, decelerate on balance, and make the catch look the same every spot.
3

  2. Attack pick and roll (hard hedge)2 x 6 makes each sideAttack the hedge with pace, create a clean lane, and get back into your shot pocket.
  3. Rejecting the screen2 x 6 makes each sideReject with a hard first step, protect the ball, and stop before the shot pulls sideways.
4

Movement threes - drift and separate

8 min · Shoot while moving without letting the base fall apart.
  1. Conner drifts2 x 8 makesDrift with your hips low, show target hands, and land balanced in the corner.
  2. Steph Curry 3 shots drill2 x 6 makesKeep each shot quick but identical; the speed comes from footwork, not a rushed release.
  3. 5 by 2 shooting2 x 10 makesMove spot to spot with purpose and treat every catch like a game shot.
5

Deep-range finisher - stretch the defense

6 min · Only back up if the form still holds.
  1. Long NBA 3pt shooting2 x 6 makesStep back only as far as your mechanics stay clean; legs create range, arms guide the ball.

How to progress

Track makes by spot. First make the workout repeatable at normal 3-point range, then extend one step at a time. Add pressure by requiring two makes in a row, using shorter rests, or making the last block count only if the release still looks the same.
