The workout: Five blocks in about 30 minutes: warm the shooting base, build quick pickups, stabilize hop-down footwork, add pull-up counters, and finish with pivots and game-speed creation. Keep every shot balanced before adding speed.
A dangerous scorer does not need a perfect catch. This workout builds the footwork and balance that let you rise into clean shots after a live dribble. Start close with simple pickups, train your feet to stop on time, then layer in hesi, between-the-legs, behind-the-back, side-step, and pivot actions. The goal is not wild shotmaking. The goal is a repeatable base that survives game speed.
1Shooting base - clean lift first
5 min · Start with balance and rhythm before adding dribble pressure. - Fundamental jump shooting2 x 8 makesSet the feet under your hips, rise straight up, and hold the finish until the ball reaches the rim.
- Warm up mid range shooting2 x 8 makesKeep the catch soft and the release compact; do not drift backward as the range increases.
2Quick pickups - ball to shot pocket
6 min · Train the first clean gather after the dribble. - Simple quick pick up2 x 8 makesPick the ball up early enough to shoot on balance, not late from your hip.
- Advance quick pick up2 x 8 makesSnap the ball to the shooting pocket while your feet arrive square to the rim.
- Advance quick pick up 22 x 8 makesStay low through the gather and let the legs lift the shot instead of rushing the arms.
3Hop-down balance - stop on time
6 min · Use the hop to organize the body before the shot. - Hop downs2 x 8 repsLand quiet, freeze the base, and keep your chest stacked over your hips.
- Hop downs w. quick pick up2 x 8 makesThe hop sets the feet; the pickup should feel smooth, fast, and directly into the shot.
4Pull-up counters - create separation
9 min · Add the moves that create a real pull-up window. - Hesi pull ups2 x 6 makes each sideSell the hesitation with your shoulders, freeze the defender, then rise without fading.
- Pull ups w. beetwen the legs dribble2 x 6 makes each sideUse the between-the-legs dribble to load the outside foot before the pull-up.
- Pull ups w. behind the back dribble2 x 6 makes each sideKeep the wrap tight behind the hip so the shot starts from a controlled base.
- Pull ups with a side step2 x 6 makes each sideSide step just far enough to clear space, then stop the momentum before the release.
5Pivot finish - shoot after a turn
4 min · Finish with pivots that force body control. - Basic curls2 x 8 makesCurl tight, show your hands early, and square the shoulders before the shot.
- Outside foot pivot shot2 x 8 makesPlant the outside foot, pivot under control, and keep the ball protected until you rise.
- Spin move into the shot2 x 6 makes each sideSpin tight, find the rim early, and land in the same lane you took off from.
How to progress
Do not speed this workout up until the stop is clean. First hit the make targets with balanced landings, then add a defender, a cone, or a shorter rest window. If your shot starts fading or the ball drops below your hip on the gather, slow the rep down and rebuild the base.
